We want you to know that we understand the challenges that children with complex medical and developmental needs and their families face each day. There may be days with the joys of family life and there are stressful ones, too. We are here to help when the challenges seem insurmountable: when there is a gap in at-home nursing services, when post- operative care is needed, when your family is facing a troubling time or at other times when you are unable to care for your child at home. We are also here to offer additional services such as evaluations and familly trainings.
We also want you to know that we have been a supportive team member for many families. We are often referred to as extended family because we provide very personalized care to the children who stay here. We love to learn about each child's likes and dislikes, what interests them, what makes them laugh and smile. Despite all of the high tech equipment, we never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, the children should live in an atmosphere that is child-centered, appropriately stimulating and fun.
We know that the decision to have a child stay away from home can be a very difficult one for families to make and we will do all that we can to ease your concerns and earn your trust. Our mission is to provide a nurturing home and school for children with complex medical and developmental needs and to be an innovative resource for families, professionals and the community. As you review this website, please know that this is just an informal "tip of the iceberg" overview and that we want you to contact us with any questions we have not answered. Our Director of Nursing, Peg Knox, along with our Social Worker, Kristin Targett, are prepared to provide you with all of the information you will need to consider a short or long term stay for your child.
